Watch Kanye West perform a bizarre and controversial set on SNL…dressed as a bottle of Perrier

The ‘ye’ star donned a ‘Make America Great Again’ cap for his final performance and delivered a pro-Trump speech

Kanye West performed on Saturday Night Live dressed as a bottle of Perrier water last night (September 29).

West, who recently suggested that he wanted to be known simply as ‘ye’ now, performed three songs over the 90-minute episode.

The first performance saw West duet with Lil Pump on their collaboration ‘I Love It’. Nodding to the video, West and Lil Pump rapped whilst dressed as Perrier and Fiji water bottles. Meanwhile, Adele Givens appeared on a screen behind them.

West then teamed up with Teyana Taylor to perform ‘We Got Love’, a song originally penned for Taylor’s new album ‘K.T.S.E’. The track didn’t appear on the album, one of several produced by West earlier this year, after a track featuring Lauren Hill wasn’t cleared by the ‘ye’ star.

For his last performance, West sparked controversy as he donned a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat during a rendition of ‘Ghost Town’ with 070 Shake, Kid Cudi and Ty Dolla $ign.

After the show ended, West remained on stage and gave a speech saying that he would run for president in 2020 whilst also talking about his support for US President Donald Trump.

West said: “So many times I talk to a white person about this and [they] say: ‘How could you like Trump he’s racist?’ Well, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.” West added that he was pressurised not to wear his MAGA cap back stage. West was booked to appear on SNL after Ariana Grande dropped out earlier this week. Speaking on the Origins With James Andrew Miller podcast recently, SNL creator Lorne Michaels revealed West was only booked after their planned guest pulled out.

Michaels said: “We had Ariana [Grande] drop out for emotional reasons two days ago. That’s our premiere, and then Kanye stepped up, and he’ll be there.”

Grande took to Twitter on Thursday (September 27) to tell her fans she was having “a tough month”. “i’m trying to get my work done and get back to normal and it’s hard and i’m human and tired,” she said in response to one follower. “sorry i let u in or worried u. i shouldn’t have tweeted. i kno better.”
