Smashing Pumpkins kicked off their reunion tour last night – with the original lineup hitting the road after joining forces once more.

Ever-present frontman Billy Corgan was joined by James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin as they performed in Glendale, Arizona for the part of the ‘Shiny and Oh So Bright’ tour.

But while the 31-song spanned the entire career of the alt-rock icons across three hours, there was also space for some unexpected covers too.

As the below video shows, the band delivered an unlikely cover of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway To Heaven, as well as closing with ‘Baby Mine’, taken from Disney classic Dumbo.

Meanwhile, police recently showed up to a property in LA after Smashing Pumpkins turned up to play a special ‘1979’ house party.

Following the majority of the band’s ‘classic’ line-up performing a comeback gig at The Troubadour, the Pumpkins then took over a house and garden in LA for a special show to recreate scenes in the spirit of youthful exuberance from their iconic video from their 1996 video.

However, the yard party seemed to upset the neighbours – with reports emerging that some took issue with the extra cars avoiding advice and parking in the street, while others issued noise complaints.

After a set loaded with fan favourites from their first five albums and new single ‘Solara’, police shut down their performance in the encore before they could close with ‘Cherub Rock’.
